Sabrina Carpenter looks like she walked off the set of a Y2K teen movie in her latest ‘fit.
The actor and musician got all glammed up in a slinky baby blue slip dress with a plunging halter neckline, sharing a few snapshots of the full look to Instagram so fans could see the gown from every angle. Sabrina looked like the perfect blend of eras in the dress; the sleek style is both ’70s disco glam and ’90s minimal chic, but the icy blue shade and backless silhouette would feel right at home on the red carpet in 2003 or in a prom scene where Sabrina plays the popular queen bee.
The star and her stylist Jared Ellner let the dress be the central focus and added minimal accessories, just a lariat style necklace, hoop earrings and a cocktail ring on her pointer finger. Makeup artist Allan Avendaño kept things timeless with flushed cheeks, dewy skin and ’90s-style rust brown lipstick, plus waterliner to define Sabrina’s blue eyes, and hairstylist Kiley Fitzgerald styled the singer’s long blonde hair into loose curls with Pamela Anderson-esque curled-under curtain bangs.
Sabrina has quickly become one of our favourite fashion icons. She’s always experimenting with trends, like giving a sheer black dress a grunge twist with a pair of chunky black boots or donning a Y2K-inspired mini dress with a matching shrug for a TV appearance, looking every bit the heroine of a throwback rom-com.
