Bridgerton star Jessica Madsen shares she’s ‘in love with a woman’ in inspiring Pride post

Nicola Coughlan, who plays Penelope, simply replied with a string of sparkling heart emojis.

Similarly, Julia Quinn, the author of the Bridgerton series, replied with a rainbow of heart emojis.

Joanna Bobbin, who plays Madsen’s on-screen mother, Lady Cowper, wrote, “Go baby girl! Love you.”

Jonathan Bailey, aka Anthony Bridgerton, commented with two heart emojis and a high five emoji.

Fans were also thrilled — especially those who were already shipping Madsen’s character, Cressida, with Eloise.

“CRELOISE MAKES SO MUCH MORE SENSE NOW. LOVE YOUUUU SMMM,” wrote one.

Another chimed in, “THIS IS WHY I FELT CRELOISE! My gaydar wasn’t wrong! On a serious note, I’m so happy for you!”

Jessica Madsen wrote a comment of her own, writing, “WOW thank you all for your beautiful messages.”

This comes after showrunner Jess Brownell opened up about her plans to include more queer storylines in Bridgerton’s future. “This is a show about love in its many forms and I think that it’s only right for us to foreground queer love and to tell queer stories,” she told Pride earlier this year. “I want to see more queer joy on my screens and that was definitely a priority for me when I stepped into the showrunner role.”

While Madsen’s queer identity certainly doesn’t mean Cressida will get a queer love story of her own, it’s clear that fans would love to see it. And according to Brownell, it could very well happen.
