It’s official: the Arket puffer coat is back with a vengeance and ready to help you take AW23 by storm, so if you’re anything like us in the winter-dressing department (i.e. super fans of layers), then you’ll want to listen up and act fast. Because it’s going to sell out.
Of course, there are tonnes of other winter coats making their mark on the high street besides this one – from the humble trench coat to wool coats and other duvet styles – but if you’ve only got the budget to choose one, then it’s got to be Arket’s insanely popular puffer coat.
Need proof of its popularity? Every influencer and their dog wore it circa October 2020-February 2022, from Hannah Crosskey to Alexis Foreman and Brittany Bathgate. It was minimalist, super on-trend and very versatile. Sustainability credentials? Check. It boasts a slightly oversized fit, perfect for layering striped jumpers and knitwear underneath, and, despite effectively protecting you from the cold, feels seriously lightweight.
It falls to a mid-calf length to keep your entire body warm (result), but also has a two-way zip plus side slips for ease of movement. If that wasn’t enough, there are pockets for storing your essentials plus an adjustable hood and elasticated cuffs to keep the wind out.
Elsewhere, if that style doesn’t immediately appeal, Arket has dropped several other puffer coats for your consideration. From a cool-tone grey jacket with a drawstring waist, to a chic cropped beige number with a weather-resistant hood, they’re all worth a serious browse.
What makes the Arket puffer coat so special?
We understand that buying a down-filled coat is a big no-no for some, but as Arket’s designs are made with Re:Down® (100% recycled down and feathers), it’s still something to consider. The alternative is a synthetic fibrefill which is better from an animal welfare POV, but worse on the environment front. Synthetic padding is not expected to last as long as feathers and down will, plus it’ll take twice as long to biodegrade and likely end up at landfill once worn out – so, essentially, you’ve got to weigh out the pros and cons on each side. Arket’s puffer coats are also crafted with recycled polyamide shells, whereas a lot of similar high-street styles won’t be, which is also something to take into consideration.
