And while a slicked-back bun is a chic option, it’s worth noting that “looser, slightly undone styles often hold better than overly sleek looks, as they allow the stylist to build shape and dimension,” Melissa adds.
Meanwhile, Mason Josh, principal stylist at Josh Wood Atelier, is a fan of up-dos for fine hair. “Thinner strands can sometimes struggle to maintain shape for long periods, particularly from morning preparation through to late evening celebrations,” he says. “Choosing an up-do can help prevent the style from dropping, while padded buns or softly structured shapes can create a fuller silhouette.”
