Your forever wardrobe called and it needs one of these satin midi skirts

A winter wardrobe isn’t complete without a range of layers. Whilst it may be too cold to get your pins out, that shouldn’t stop you from embracing satin midi skirts. A great transitional piece to take you from winter to spring (and back round again), they’re perfect for elevating a casual look.

Sure, traditional slip skirts may be something you remember your mum wearing under her dresses or to the office, but they’ve transitioned over the years from a subtle undergarment to a key piece to complete the puzzle of any look. Trust us.

Something of a chameleon, and one that’s certain to stay in your wardrobe for years to come, the classic satin midi skirt can be worn in an array of ways. From layered beneath thick knit jumpers and chunky loafers, to worn with tucked-in t-shirts and a dainty mule.

This year we saw the column-shaped denim midi skirt take front and centre as the TikTok girly’s favourite item for spring and summer. It quickly became the versatile and affordable update to everyone’s transition wardrobe, so it only makes sense that as we enter party season we take the tone from laid-back denim to sultry satin, right?

On the runway, the midi got a makeover with metallics, sequins and foil, much like what we saw from Erdem, where foiled lace versions were paired with ballet flats (another ‘it’ girl fave). While 16Arlington accentuated the delicate petal trim of theirs with a sheer vest to match. Obsessed.

There’s a reason the classics stand the test of time, and when it comes to autumn capsule wardrobe items, the longer they can remain a staple the better. We think spending a little bit more on something high quality, which will wash and wear a lot better, is the way to go.
