The shaggy cut is officially the trim of spring

There are many versions of the shaggy cut, and, coincidentally, in the latest Mango collection, we have found two iterations of the chop that we cannot stop thinking about. Two of the models presenting the spring-summer collections are sporting the ’70s-inspired trim that keeps coming back. While one is an example of a more authentic shag, the other offers a more refined option, perfect for those who have never dared to wear a shag.

The retro shag

First up is the retro shag. You’ll recognise this shag by its more defined curls and tight bangs. It’s way more ‘70s than the softer renditions that have emerged from the shaggy, layered hair movement that’s headlined the last few years. It works perfectly with curlier hair types, embracing tons of texture.

With spring and summer is fast approaching, this shaggy cut offers up a haircut that’s casual, chill and doesn’t require a lot of maintenance.

The elegant shag

Next is the elegant shag. This cut taps up some of the shags best-loved features: the layers, the volume, the ease of styling, the lightness with which it frames the face. However, it has a simpler finish because the model’s hair only has a slight wave so the layers are less visible. It also incorporates curtain bangs that are light and not too thick so they can be flipped to one side.

This option is particularly suited if you have straight hair or very small defined waves.
