Its roots stem from Sweden but the H&M we know and love today is a global phenomenon, and the H&M Studio AW25 collection is a celebration of its melting-pot heritage. Finding connections in contrasting elements from São Paolo to Stockholm; brutalism to modernism; softness to strictness, this line-up (which is live as of right now, FYI) pushes us to embrace the edgy.
And yes, we’ve not long had the H&M Studio Pre-Fall capsule. Don’t say they don’t spoil us.
No drop from the high-street conglomerate would be the same without a few classic, tailored separates, and you’ll be pleased to still find them… but with a twist. A masculine black blazer sees a contrasting material to its back, a pencil skirt is forged from sequins and mesh, and details such as exposed seams and linings, visible zippers, and raw hems are prevalent throughout the line-up.
“Complexity wins over complication for AW25,” says Linda Wikell, concept designer at H&M Studio. “There’s a femininity to the collection that’s both strict and tender – an expression of the multifaceted woman of today who’s constantly exploring new ground.”
If the ever-changing spectrum of trends is anything to go by, then H&M is onto a winner. And tapping into some of this season’s biggest – spotted at both McQueen and Victoria Beckham – the collection contains a variety of black-on-black separates like wool coats and wide-leg trousers, plus exaggerated footwear like a chunky-soled pair of oversized biker boots. Don’t worry, the ever-expected Scandi pops of colour and pattern are still present too, of course.
So, what to make a beeline for? There’s a pair of belted thigh-high boots that have ‘sell-out’ written all over them, and a lace-trimmed mini dress that obviously looks great worn alone but even better poking out from beneath an oversized shirt or knit. AKA – every It-girl’s uniform RN.
