In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter earlier this year, the series’ director Ben Stiller said “there is a writers room underway in L.A”, with the article explaining that “he hopes not to keep audiences waiting three years this time.”
Better still, in a November 2024 Collider interview Stiller said “You have a responsibility to the audience that you’re going somewhere with it. That’s always been a part of it for us, really understanding where it’s heading to…It should go as long as the story goes, and that’s something we have an idea of, and we’re working towards as we’re starting up our Season 3 work.”
Stiller, who directed five episodes this season, in a statement, said making “‘Severance’ has been one of the most creatively exciting experiences” he’s ever been a part of.”
Adam Scott (AKA Mark S) also said in a statement that he “couldn’t be more excited to get back to work” with the Severance cast, also adding “Oh hey also – not a huge deal – but if you see my innie, please don’t mention any of this to him. Thanks.”
Iiiinteresting, so from this it sounds like Severance season 3 is very much already in the works. Fingers crossed!

Is there a Severance season 3 release date yet?
Given that the second season only concluded this week, we’ve likely got a good while to wait until Severance season 3 arrives on our screens, though we’re hopeful that we won’t be having to hold out for as long as we did between seasons 1 and 2 given that the most recent season was delayed due to the SAG-AFTRA and Writers Guild of America strikes.
