Actress Reese Witherspoon wowed at the 2024 Emmy Awards with a classy updo that channelled some utterly charming Old Hollywood glam. The Oscar winner was nominated in the Best Drama Series category at this year’s awards thanks to her performance as news anchor and co-host, Bradley Jackson, alongside Jennifer Aniston on The Morning Show.
However, Reese’s appearance on the red carpet made us do a double-take as she bore more than a passing resemblance to another legendary actress, Grace Kelly.

Not only are the two acting icons very similar in build, facial features and colouring, their hairstyles and make-up also appear to be almost identical. The ‘Grace Kelly bun’ is undoubtedly one of the most elegant hairstyles in the beauty archive and it was also one of our favourite styles of the evening.

The good news, if you’re inspired, is this style is fairly easy to recreate. Comb your hair through well – if you have natural curls, you should straighten your hair a little beforehand to smooth it flat.
You can tease your hair at the roots to create volume. Then comb your hair straight back so that there is no parting. At the crown, tie your hair into a loose plait, then twist it into a bun. Secure the hair with individual bobby pins. Make sure that you pin more upwards so that the hairstyle doesn’t sag.
You can then use a wide-tooth comb to loosen and lift the hair at the roots and smooth out any unevenness. Use plenty of hairspray and make the hair at the ear a little sleeker. You can also use a styling gel or spray some hairspray on your fingers and sweep it backwards.
