Met Gala 2025: all the women in suits on the iconic red steps

With a dress code like Tailored for You, you had to know that at the Met Gala 2025, women in suits were going to be everywhere. And wouldn’t you know it, they definitely were.

The official Met Gala theme was “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” in honour of the cultural heritage of Black style and, more specifically, Black dandyism. We already knew that the evening’s co-chairs—Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky, and Pharrell Williams—would pull out all the stops. They are, after all, some of the few men who consistently prove that men’s red carpet fashion doesn’t have to be boring, and this dress code was basically Tailored for Them.

However, this is 2025, and menswear isn’t just for men anymore. And at the Met Gala 2025, women in suits dominated the conversation. One of the first women to walk the red steps in an incredible suit was Teyana Taylor. The singer-songwriter and actor dropped all the jaws when she rolled up in a pinstriped suit paired with a red velvet waistcoat and, instead of a standard blazer, an ankle-length matching frock coat. She topped the entire thing off with a shoulder-padded ruby red cape, a feathered red fedora, and literal sceptre. The ensemble, she said, was designed by herself with Ruth E. Carter.

Of course, not every celeb went as all out as all that. Some women went for a (relatively) more demure take on the suit. Such as Joey King, who wore a loose-fitting green set adorned with diamond embellishments. Zendaya, meanwhile, stunned in an all-white suit with dramatic flared trousers and an even more dramatic white hat.
