I’m getting all of my Christmas shopping done early thanks to Amazon Prime Day

The thing is, some are so expensive that I’m unsure who, if not in the industry, is buying them. Enter: these epic Amazon Prime Day fitness deals which can help you save on wellness products by the likes of Reebok for less.

Salomon hydration vests are an absolute must-buy for anyone running long distances, while Free Soul’s chocolate flavoured protein blend came out as one of the best vegan protein powders when we were testing for our recent guide. Elsewhere, Air Up water bottles are great for staying hydrated if you get bored of drinking plain water, and these Speedo goggles are some of the best for beginner swimmers.

The second Amazon Prime Day of the year is happening right now. Otherwise called Amazon Big Deals Day, it started at 12:01 AM on 8th October, and runs through until midnight tomorrow night: October 8th. It’s time to get your ducks in a row.

What is Amazon Prime Day?

ICYMI, Amazon Prime Day is Amazon’s biggest sale of the year and their flagship shopping event. It started back in 2015 to celebrate Amazon’s 20th anniversary, and the tradition has continued ever since. Much to our delight. It’s a chance to nab savings across all categories — whether you’re looking for beauty essentials, new tech products, or great gifts.

How do I become an Amazon Prime member?

For most deals, you need to be an Amazon Prime member to take part in the perk that is Amazon Big Deal Days – or at least be on a 30-day trial. So bag yourself an Amazon Prime Membership pronto if you haven’t already. Signing up to Amazon Prime membership allows you to benefit from next-day delivery when you hit pan on your favourite face serum, over 800,000 free e-books, access to Prime Video, Amazon Music and more.

How much is an Amazon Prime membership?

Prime membership costs £8.99 a month or £89 for a year to pay up-front, and you can sign up super quickly. As mentioned, you can also sign up to a 30-day free trial using a unique email address, enabling you to benefit from Prime Day deals without paying.

Tips for finding the best Amazon Prime Day deals:

Impulse shopping is not allowed round these parts, so before diving head first into the Amazon Prime Day deals event, plan out your purchases. Downloading the Amazon Prime app is handy – either on iPhone, MacBook or desktop – as it sends you live notifications to keep you on track. Plus, you can save your favourite products to monitor deals.

Is Amazon Prime Day worth it?

This comes down to how much use you get out of the products that you buy. If you buy a Roomba vacuum then pay for a cleaner and never once turn it on, then no, Amazon Prime Day is certainly not worth your time.

That said, if you only partake in a couple of purchases of products you need to top-up, and those you’ve been after for a long time, the £8.99 monthly fee makes the savings worthwhile. You’ll generally find the best savings on higher ticket products like laptops, TVs and Amazon devices.

Is Prime Day better than Black Friday?

In case you’ve been living under a rock for the past couple of years, we can generally categorise the “biggest shopping events” of the year into two: Amazon Prime Day and Black Friday. Black Friday is, arguably, more famous – not least because of the swarms of physical shoppers it attracts to the high street – and it encompasses a plethora of stores as opposed to just one. But that doesn’t mean the deals are necessarily any better.

When comparing apples to apples (a Ninja Air Fryer with another Ninja Air Fryer, for example), there isn’t too much difference in terms of size and quality of deals.

What were the best Prime Day deals last year?

Among GLAMOUR readers, the most-ordered products on Prime Day 2023 were the Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water, the Revlon One-Step hair dryer and volumiser, the Bed Head by TIGI Recovery Shampoo and Conditioner set, this TECKNET Handheld Fan and (no surprises), the Maybelline New York Lash Sensational Sky High Mascara. The best news? All of these products are on sale for Amazon Prime Day 2024.
