‘Forever, Interrupted’ is the new Netflix series starring Margaret Qualley and Laura Dern

Two seriously big stars are set to lead a new Netflix TV series – Forever, Interrupted. Laura Dern and Margaret Qualley will tell the heartbreaking story, originally told in novel form by Daisy Jones & The Six author Taylor Jenkins Reid.

Fans of One Day: this is one to keep an eye on. It looks to include a swoon-worthy love story, but is also set to be more than a bit of a tearjerker.

After the success of Daisy Jones & The Six – as a novel and TV series starring Riley Keough, Suki Waterhouse, Camila Morrone and Sam Claflin – we reckon this show is going to be a big one.

According to reports by Deadline, Forever, Interrupted will be written and produced by showrunner Julia Bicknell, who was a writer producer on Yellowjackets, and Laura, Margaret and author Taylor will all executive produce, along with Black Mirror‘s Jessica Rhoades, Palm Royale‘s Jayme Lemons, Alison Mo Masey, Brad Mendelsohn and Brett Hedblom.

Here’s everything we know so far about Forever, Interrupted and its Netflix adaptation.

Forever, Interrupted plot

The book (and soon to be series) will follow Elsie (played by Margaret Qualley) and her story of love and loss after her husband Ben unexpectedly dies nine days after they got married. As she navigates her grief, she must also encounter Ben’s mother Susan (played by Laura Dern) who has no idea she existed. Devastating, and so awkward.

We will switch between two timelines, flashbacks to Elsie and Ben’s love story and Elsie’s experiences as she gets to know Susan. What starts out as a frosty and confusing connection sees the two women go through their grief together.

Forever, Interrupted cast

Margaret and Laura are the only confirmed castings so far – watch this space for a further cast list confirmation.

Forever, Interrupted release date

Seeing as production hasn’t started yet as far as we know, the series is unlikely to be dropping before late 2025 or early 2026. That means there’s plenty of time to read the novel if you haven’t already, or re-read if you’ve read and loved it.
