Everyone at Milan Fashion Week is wearing this preppy trend and we’re obsessed

Milan Fashion Week street style always offers us a vibrant dose of styling inspiration. With brands like Gucci, Prada and Diesel on the calendar—historic houses that are as well known for their eclectic style as they are for lavish set designs—it’s no wonder that show-goers often serve fabulous street style to match.

This season, Milan’s shows have been louder than ever. Fendi celebrated its 100th anniversary with a show sprinkled with archival references (and Sarah Jessica Parker on the FROW, of course), Dsquared2 opened theirs with a special performance by Doechii and Gucci’s celebrity-packed front row was as glitzy as the collection itself.

Outside, street style stars dressed to impress, and impress us they did by styling up a particular closet staple—the crisp, collared shirt. Just when you think there’s nothing more you could do with something as basic as a shirt, the Milan Fashion Week set proved us wrong.

On the runways, the exaggerated collar has already begun popping up as a trend for autumn/winter 2025, but the street style girlies are way ahead of the curve, adding a pop of colour or print through a poplin shirt, and expertly layering theirs under jumpers and blazers alike. Our favourite looks are the ones that involve colour combos that feel so wrong they’re right. Think: a blue collared shirt peeping out of a moss-green jacket paired with a pink, embellished skirt.

A preppier take on the Office Siren trend taking over our feeds, the street style set has proven that the humble shirt is not going away, and there are still infinite ways to make it feel fresh. Don’t believe us? Take a look at the best Milan Fashion Week street style below and see for yourself.
