Dua Lipa is serving Cinderella realness at the 2023 Met Gala. The Sweetest Pie singer arrived on the Met steps wearing the vintage Fall/Winter ‘92 Chanel couture bride dress. The white corset gown cinches perfectly at the waist and has gorgeous black and silver along the trim.
The 2023 Met Gala theme honours designer Karl Lagerfeld. Known for his role as creative director of Chanel in addition to his work at Chloé and his brand, Lagerfeld, the late designer was one of the most influential figures in fashion.
According to Vogue, the Met Gala’s dress code will honour “the artistic methodology and stylistic vocabulary of Karl Lagerfeld’s designs through recurring themes across more than 65 years, from the 1950s to his final collection in 2019.”
Dua Lipa is a co-host this year, so solidifying Karl’s legacy in one of the iconic “couture bride” moments is perfect. Karl’s final Chanel couture looks always included a bridal moment, and the model chosen to wear the look was centred as Karl’s “it girl.”
Instead of wearing the white top hat, Dua opted out and let her hair roam free. She added a large lariat necklace with a gigantic diamond at the centre.
