Denim blue makeup is coming for your beauty routine, so get ready to see it everywhere

Denim has been a fashion staple since the ‘50s, but this season it’s making its way from your wardrobe and into your beauty routine with denim blue makeup set to trend for spring.

Of course, moving toward pretty pastels as the weather warms up is not exactly new, but while soft lilacs have been headlining for the past couple of years, some major beauty brands have put their weight behind denim blue as the shade to take off for 2025.

Both Charlotte Tilbury and Victoria Beckham have recently released entire eyeshadow palettes devoted to different shades of blue with the launch of Denim Dimension and Navy Noir, respectively. Dior spotlit the shade in its spring Glowmania collection with a sub-edit focused around “Bluemania”, a shimmering pale denim shade available in lip gloss, lip balm, eyeshadow and nail polish form. Sephora has a bold blue liquid liner and mascara ready to go for anyone looking to skip trad black, and Jones Road has added an inky navy shade to its collection of gel liners.

But, while denim is an established neutral in the fashion-sphere, blending blue across our eyes and nails may seem a little out-there, so we asked the GLAMOUR team to try the shade for size and feedback on whether denim blue makeup can fit as comfortably into their makeup bag as it does their wardrobe…

The product: Sephora Collection Size Up Supersized Volume Mascara in Blue

I was pleasantly surprised by how much I loved this injection of colour to my make-up. I usually prefer a clean palette with a natural glow and tend to avoid anything outside my skin tone. However, this felt like a fun accessory, accentuating my features. It was easy to apply and volumised my lashes for an impactful look. The cobalt colour is gorgeous and I’ve been obsessed with it as a beauty trend since seeing it on the models at Chet Lo SS25. Mascara feels like an approachable way to dive into it. To maintain a contemporary feel, I would definitely still keep the rest of my makeup minimal.
