Forget your meticulously crafted wedding Pinterest boards, Married At First Sight Australia is less “happily ever after” and more “hold my beer, I’m about to reveal my deepest, darkest secrets on national television.”
This season, MAFS Australia‘s Lauren Hall, 37, and Eliot Donovan, 35, had a brief but explosive stint, which quickly cemented them as one of the show’s most controversial couples ever. Let’s take a closer look at where it all went so horribly wrong.

What happened to Lauren and Eliot on Married At First Sight Australia?
Lauren and Eliot’s initial meeting at the altar was the first giveaway that it might not work out between them. Lauren’s sister Tamara didn’t exactly help, with some outrageous comments at the wedding that caused many viewers to voice their distaste. “Does someone need to go in and arrest Tamara?” one user posted on X. “Why are all these people accepting her behaviour?” It did make for great TV though.
But it was during the honeymoon that it became crystal clear that these two are not a match. While they both expressed a desire for a traditional relationship, their interpretations of what “traditional” means differed significantly.
Eliot’s rigid expectations and a (very long) list of “non-negotiables” clashed with Lauren’s more modern and independent approach. Lauren expressed a desire to “serve” her husband, which does kind of seem traditional, but it led to Eliot being critical of her lifestyle, which killed any hope of a potential relationship.
