To paraphrase Tinashe: Is somebody gonna match Anya Taylor-Joy’s freak? That is the question seemingly posed by the bum-revealing red leather minidress the Furiosa actor wore for her Late Show With Stephen Colbert appearance on May 22. It’s giving dystopian dominatrix. It’s giving biker-babe chic.
Taylor-Joy’s Mugler micro-mini seems relatively demure from the front (discounting the hemline, of course), but it is also entirely open in the back, secured with several black belt straps, revealing a sliver of the actor’s backside.
The front of the dress, by contrast, features a high cowl neckline and draped, short sleeves, with a cinched ruching detail at the waist. Taylor-Joy emphasised the futuristic vibes with a heavy metal cuff bracelet, which matched her silver hoop earrings. For glam, she went with a high pony, a cat-eye, and a bold red lip to match the cherry colour of her dress.
In her interview with Colbert, Anya Taylor-Joy confessed that she’d never driven a car before Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga. “When [director] George Miller calls you, and asks, ‘Do you want to learn how to drive a car to be in Mad Max,’ you say, ‘Yes,’” Taylor-Joy said with a laugh. “And then you figure it out as you go along.”
