High-street favourite Zara don’t specifically cater to taller ladies, and neither do H&M – it’s just pot luck if you find something that fits or is labelled ‘full length’ – and designer brands barely accommodate for plus size jeans, let alone different heights.
The good news is that Instagram has brought about a flourish of influencers and bloggers who are all different shapes and sizes, including heights. Some of my go-to tall girls for inspiration when it comes to where to shop are Olivia Laura Turner, Zanna Vandijk, Tara Jade, Jacqueline Ilumoka and Ashley Battle. Even if they haven’t bought something that’s specifically labelled as ‘Tall’, it’s super handy to see how general pieces of clothing fit and look on them. That’s why I’ve gone through the trouble of testing some myself, to provide other leggy ladies with a roster of denim approved by me. Read on for how I tested them and why you should trust me, or skip to the shopping…
Why you can trust me
I’m a size UK 12 and tend to need jeans that have at least a 34-inch inseam. I have a 30-inch waist and 40-inch hips, so not only am I fighting to find jeans that are long enough, but I’ve also got to contend with my pear-shaped frame. See my pain?
As someone who’s worked in the fashion industry for eight years now, and has witnessed the comings and goings of brands/collections that cater to all body shapes and heights, it’s important to me now more than ever to champion the brands that give everyone a seat at the table. It’s why I commission plus size and petite writers to talk about their experiences, too, because in 2026 there really is no excuse to leave anyone out anymore.
How I tested the best tall jeans
The majority of the jeans you can see me wearing below graze the tops of my feet, which is how most denim should fit in my opinion unless you’re going for a purposeful crop (which I was in some cases). I tried a variety of rises – from high to mid and even low – and took things like composition, colour variety, and cost into consideration. The jeans that met my criteria, i.e. fit at my waist and hips, didn’t dig in anywhere and didn’t look stupidly short, are the ones I’ve included. And yes, there are some ‘regular’ jeans in the mix, but as you can see, they work.
Rest assured, I definitely tried some styles which didn’t tick those boxes. I’ve not included them, though, because there’s no point in advertising a brand if they’re lacking in inclusivity and diversity, right? I’m still in the throes of finding more styles I approve, and further down is a selection of all the tall jeans I’m currently testing. I’ll keep you posted on how they’ve faired once I’ve given them a good go. Read more about how we test things at Glamour here.
