And from Bridgerton, Derry Girls and Ruth to This Is Going to Hurt and The Traitors, there were some big winners.
This year’s ceremony was held at London’s Royal Festival Hall, and hosted by Romesh Ranganathan and Rob Beckett, with BAFTA nominees flocking to the red carpet in show-stopping looks.

The common theme across awards season this year (and the BAFTA red carpet) wasn’t the couture however, but a blue ribbon worn by countless stars.
That’s right. Since the early 2023 awards shows, stars have taken to the red carpet with blue ribbons on their lapels, with Cate Blanchett, Colin Farrell, Michelle Yeoh, Emma Thompson and Paul Mescal being among those to follow the trend.
But what does it all mean? Well, there’s actually a very important and moving reason behind those little blue ribbons. Here’s what you need to know.

Why are A-listers wearing blue ribbons at the 2023 awards season?
A-listers have been wearing blue ribbons at the BAFTAs and other awards shows this year in support of refugees and displaced people across the world, with the pin sported being a #WithRefugees ribbon.
Among the celebrities wearing #WithRefugees ribbons are Cate Blanchett, Emma Thompson, Sophie Turner, Angela Bassett, Bill Nighy, Paul Mescal and Jamie Lee Curtis, who opened up about her decision to wear the pin on the film BAFTA red carpet earlier this year.
“My friend Cate Blanchett is asking people to remind us all in the midst of all the season of shiny things that of course there are terrible refugee crises going on all over the world everywhere all at once and we need to do our part,” explained Jamie Lee.
