Apparently, the UK is absolutely full of one-time football stars who have given up their careers and are looking for love.
On the latest series of MAFS UK, that footballer in Steven Springett. Steven was introduced in the second episode of the new season. He and Nelly were the fourth couple to walk down the aisle. And so far, things seem to be off to a flying start.

According to one source, he was practically made for reality TV. “Steve is a real character and will make unmissable TV – he’s really hot, but he’s trouble – once he walks up the aisle everyone will be talking about him,” said the source to The Sun. Sounds promising… and kind of ominous.

He’s an ex-footballer whose career was cut short
Yes, Steven is also an ex-footballer, putting him in pretty good reality TV company. Steven used to play for Ebbsfleet United as a teen, but a “horrific” attack cut his career plans short.
He was leaving the club when nine men attacked him. The attack, Steven later told the Daily Mail, was motivated by an old college dispute.
“I fractured my right cheekbone, I’ve damaged my teeth, I’ve got a few scars on my chin,” he recalled. “I shattered my nose, so I’ve still got a slight bend in there, but I had reconstructive surgery.”
