It’s been six months since the internet experienced the great flared jeans debate. A contentious argument that divided everyone, from denim experts to MC HQ, over whether flared jeans were, in fact, on their way back to our wardrobes.
And though the summer months saw a slight uptick in the silhouette post-debate, fashion’s biggest purveyors have confirmed that it is autumn/winter 2025 that will see flared jeans in all of their glory.
Moving away from its noughties connotations, this season’s runways took a modern approach with Chanel, Chloé, and Balenciaga, dropping the 2000s classic low-rise bleached approach and opting for high-rise cuts in true blue and dark denim washes. Paired with complementing denim jackets, coats, and cropped puffer jackets —flared jeans have never looked chicer.

Are flared jeans in style for AW25?
Indeed, buyers predict that flared jeans will be one of AW25’s biggest denim trends, featuring a slightly relaxed leg and a high-rise waistband. “This season’s shows have showcased a strong presence of slouchy styles alongside high-rise flares,” notes Mytheresa’s chief buying officer Tiffany Hsu.
According to Google, searches for flared jeans have received an increase of +184% within the past couple of weeks as we gear up for an autumn of flares. Working in tandem with the buyer’s expertise and catwalk coverage, it’s safe to say that flared jeans are very much in style for AW25.
How to style flared jeans?
Regardless of what you’ve heard, flared jeans are a very versatile cut to style. Mimicking skinny jeans while adding a stylish baggy flare from the knee onwards, it allows for a polished look when paired with structured pieces.
As seen on Anouk Yve, opt for a tucked-in blouse styled with a blazer for a simple yet elegant office look. For a more casual approach, consider tucking in a graphic T-shirt or a cropped cashmere sweater.
For footwear, I personally like to style my flared jeans with heeled flats or ankle boots, as these may puddle depending on which pair you choose to invest in. If puddling hemlines aren’t a problem for you, then style with ballet flats or trainers for a vintage-inspired look.
