The ‘tendy’ is the tiny hair upgrade all the celebs are doing

The “Tendy” is the latest noughties-inspired hair trend to take off after an explosion of inspo from the decade.

There’s no denying that the styles trending in the 2000s are back. Regina George side-partings may have been discounted as “cheugy” a few seasons back, but they’re all over the red carpets and runways and they’ve been tapped up by celebs and influencers with everyone from Dua Lipa to Whitney Peak and Kim Kardashian bringing the style back.

Likewise, spiky buns, hair poufs and tendrils have all made a return, but it’s this last one that’s had a modern upgrade for the latest hair revival.

What is the tendy hair trend?

The “tendy” is the lil sis to noughties hair tendrils. Instead of having a pair of dinky hair strips tumbling down for some face-framing, we’ve seen a whole bunch of celebs, including Lori Harvey, Gigi Hadid and Hailey Bieber, switch things up and opt for a lone, statement strand on one side of their parting.

Why do the tendy hair trend?

If you want a low-effort way of adding extra interest and structure to hair, tendrils are great way to incorporate some more movement, and depending on how they’re styled, they can add a little romance, or edge to hairstyles. The “tendy” keeps things fresh, young and a little more unexpected with the asymmetrical strand. Plus it looks a whole lot more mysterious to us.

Does the tendy hair trend work on all hair types?

The beauty of the “tendy” is that it works with all hair lengths and types. It can be worn straight, wavy or curly and for coily or afro hair types, it can be gelled into place like a statement, solo edge.

Here’s 9 of our favourite ways to wear the “tendy” hair trend…
