Phoebe Dynevor has found herself in very steamy waters again.
Yes, after romancing the Duke of Hastings in Bridgerton, things look very hot and heavy once again for the 28-year-old in the first new trailer for her upcoming movie, Fair Play.
Billed as “a taut relationship thriller”, the erotic thriller directed by Chloe Domont in her feature debut had its US premiere at Sundance Film Festival at the start of the year. It will go on to have its official international debut at the 2023 Toronto International Film Festival before hitting Netflix.
And by the trailer alone, we can see a very promising, hot under-the-collar start for two lovebirds who meet at a fast-paced, cutthroat financial firm. However, soon after the pair become engaged, a promotion arises at their job, and what ensues is a bitter, toxic and challenging battle, which has them both pulling out all the stops to reign supreme in their careers at the expense of their relationship.
Most importantly, this is a dynamic that we’re sure has been presented to many real-life couples who work together. As a result, the film is set to explore the effects that gender roles and double standards have when it comes to success and career ambitions.
For further content, the official synopsis from Netflix reads: “When a coveted promotion at a cutthroat financial firm arises, once supportive exchanges between lovers Emily (Phoebe Dynevor) and Luke (Alden Ehrenreich) begin to sour into something more sinister.
“As the power dynamics irrevocably shift in their relationship, the couple must face the true price of success and the unnerving limits of ambition. In her feature debut, writer-director Chloe Domont weaves a taut relationship thriller, staring down the destructive gender dynamics that pit partners against each other in a world that is transforming faster than the rules can keep up.”
