The Lovers is the new show that is set to take over Sky Atlantic & NOW TV that will certainly ring true to the statement that opposites attracted.
From acclaimed playwright David Ireland, the new romantic comedy will chronicle the journeys of two incredibly different people – Janet, a foul-mouthed supermarket worker, played by Roisin Gallagher and Seamus, a political broadcaster, played by Johnny Flynn.
The series starts with the pair having a less-than-pleasant first meeting and at each other’s throats before eventually discovering that the one thing they have in common is that they develop feelings for one another.

The official synopsis for The Lovers reads: “Janet is a foul-mouthed, hilarious Belfast supermarket worker who couldn’t give a s**t about anything much at all, not least her own life. Seamus is an urbane political broadcaster with what looks to be a perfect London life and a celebrity girlfriend.
“So when Seamus unexpectedly drops into Janet’s world (literally over her wall and into her back garden), they understandably get off on the wrong foot. But somehow, they find themselves puzzlingly drawn to one another. These are two people who seem totally and utterly wrong for each other – they’re the type their mothers warned them about, after all.
