Normally wine-inspired nails ricochet between a deep, almost-black Merlot and a berry-infused Bordeaux. But rosé nails – inspired by a chilled glass of Whispering Angel sweating in the midday sun – are shaping up to be our favourite tipple this summer.
Pink for nails is hardly revolutionary. After all, we’ve seen rose water nails – with their signature watery-thin, rosy pink colour – explode on social media in the past few weeks.
But it’s also a staple that will never fail you. So if you’ve already fallen hard for the ‘princess nails’ trend and want another look that serves up hushed hues but with added sparkle – rosé nails could be the intoxicating trend to jump on.
Even DIY manicure enthusiasts have nothing but love for this look as nails look expensive, glossy and healthy. Not to mention any chips are barely visible.
Put simply, rosé nails are a soft-focus flush for your fingertips and all we want to do is bathe in its warm afterglow on a balmy summer’s day.
How to get sparkling rosé nails at home
The same rule applies to all nude nails: lay the foundation first by clipping your nails straight across before rounding the edges with a nail file.
Then pick your polish. You can either choose a shimmery pink hue or swipe a top coat with light-reflecting flecks over a regular rosy shade. If you cure your nails at home, you could try using a magnetic polish alongside a nail magnet to manipulate the metal particles and create a velvety cat-eye effect.
As for the shade? While everyone has their own way of breaking down the trend, manicurists are cleverly steering the shade away from Barbiecore predictability. They have even tapped into the fact that rosé wine from different regions has a different colour and character when serving up their nail inspiration.
One of the most popular manifestations of the rosé nail trend is a very pale blush shade that bears a striking resemblance to a bottle of Whispering Angel. It hits the sweet spot between a sheer nude and a very wearable peachy-pink hue – and is not unlike the sparkling rosé manicure that Lindsay Lohan donned for the Freakier Friday premiere on July 22 courtesy of her nail pro Eri Ishizu.
