Sirens is the scandalous new Netflix series we’re all about to be obsessed with

Julianne Moore, Meghann Fahy and Milly Alcock are combining powers to bring us a gorgeous, compelling female-driven Netflix series, Sirens.

It’s the first project to come from Maid showrunner Molly Smith Metzler’s multi-year partnership with Netflix – who can be surprised, the Margaret Qualley-led TV series was an absolute hit – and Sirens is also being produced by Margot Robbie’s production company LuckyChap.

Talk about an absolute showcase for female-fronted entertainment! Here’s everything we know so far about Sirens.

Sirens plot

Netflix has described the show as an “incisive, sexy, and darkly funny exploration of women, power and class”. Yes please.

The plot synopsis for the TV series reads as follows: “The dark comedy will follow Devon (Meghann Fahy), who’s concerned about her sister Simone’s creepy relationship with her new employer, the mysterious socialite and animal activist Michaela Kell (played by Julianne Moore).

“Michaela’s cultish, luxurious lifestyle is like a drug to Simone (Milly Alcock), and Devon thinks it’s time for an intervention. When Devon tracks her sister down to find out WTF is going on, she underestimates what you’re in for when you have Michaela as an enemy.”

The series takes place over a drama-filled weekend at the family’s lavish beach estate – we’re thinking a serious case of rich people behaving badly. It’s also based on a play written by Metzler named Elemeno Pea, which sees sisters square off against each other and looks at ambition, how our choices shape us and, ultimately, regret. Sign us up.
