I’m not exactly a sports girlie, but I can’t get enough of the Paris Olympics – specifically the gymnastics, led by history-making American gymnast, Simone Biles.
I’m not alone in my enthusiasm: Lady Gaga, Tom Cruise, Ariana Grande, Cynthia Erivo and Nicole Kidman have all been spotted cheering on the gymnasts from the stands. Snoop Dogg even unveiled a custom T-shirt with Simone Biles, face on it. The devotion is real, and international. But while the competitors have been showcasing an athleticism that’s beyond exemplary, to say the very least, I also couldn’t help but notice how gorgeous Simone’s glam looked.
This isn’t me reducing a strong and powerful woman to her appearance — Simone has been openly passionate about Olympics beauty prep. She chronicled her pre-Paris hair and nail appointments in a GRWM TikTok, during which she revealed that she remarkably does her own eyelashes. I can’t even do that (or literally anything else she does).
Clearly, Simone Biles puts serious thought into her Parisian performance glam, which brings me to my next point: We now know exactly which products she used for her competition complexion. Drumroll, please…
Thanks to some Pulitzer-worthy photography that captured Biles touching up her makeup ahead of the floor exercise amid the artistic gymnastics women’s team final, we can confirm that Biles’ setting powder of choice is none other than Fenty Beauty’s Invisimatte Instant Setting + Blotting Powder. Am I surprised? No. It’s the same one Rihanna reapplied in the midst of her Super Bowl Halftime Show, so clearly, it works.
Now here’s where things get complicated. While Biles is undeniably using the Fenty setting powder, I am not 100% sure which lip liner she’s applying. A handful of TikTok sleuths assert that it’s the NYX Professional Makeup Slim Lip Pencil and have expressed disbelief that the GOAT is “using drug store makeup.”
While I cannot confirm it beyond a shadow of a doubt, I did some serious zooming in on the above images and compared them with the lip liner, and it very strongly resembles the NYX lip liner in shade “Espresso,” which is indeed only £4 on Boots and at most drugstores.
So do with that information what you will, and shop Simone Biles’ setting powder and (maybe) lip liner below.
