Nobody wears necklaces like Sarah Jessica Parker, but that is why she will forever be one of the most fashionable people in the world. At a photocall for And Just Like That… on 28 May, Parker introduced the world to yet another novel method of wearing a necklace, one which I will be adding to my personal repertoire immediately.

SJP knows that dressing well isn’t just about the fabulous clothes and accessories; it’s all in the styling. And for her, that means the quirkier the better.

To go with her mulberry Vivienne Westwood dress and pointed cowboy boots (Side note: Anyone else getting major Hocus Pocus déja vu with this outfit?), Parker wore two necklaces. One, a pearl pendant on a delicate chain, she wore the normal way, but wore her black beaded necklace across one shoulder and under the other, sort of like a holster, so it crossed her collarbone at an angle. Her mind!

I need hardly remind you that this is not the first time Parker has reinvented the art of necklaces. One of my personal favourites was when she pinned a silver chain with a pendant to a single bra strap, creating a two-in-one necklace and brooch effect. But we’ve learned to always expect the unexpected when it comes to a Sarah Jessica Parker look.

For instance, why not try cerulean tights with an otherwise conservative academic look? Or wear mismatched stilettos on the red carpet? And I haven’t even gotten into some of her most memorable Carrie Bradshaw ’fits from back in her Sex and the City days. Belt over a bare midriff, anyone?

The good news about this particular styling hack is that it is relatively easy to achieve. All you really need is an extra-long beaded necklace and plenty of visible clavicle to make this look your own.
