Raye channelled Old Hollywood at the British Fashion Awards

Last night, the stars descended on London’s Royal Albert Hall to celebrate this year’s British Fashion Awards. Sometimes lovingly referred to as fashion’s Christmas party, the event is a fundraiser for the British Fashion Council as well as a night to honour the year’s fashion talent.

No star glittered as bright (literally) as the rising musical talent Raye, who wore a custom dress by Ferrari. The luminous silver-bonded satin dress was bedazzled on top and sculptural yet straightforward on the bottom. She channelled classic Old Hollywood glamour, which felt totally at home with the singer’s signature style. In music as in fashion, she is clearly inspired by history, but makes it her own. The look suited her performance perfectly, which included the most beautiful rendition of the jazz classic Cry Me A River and her hit song Where Is My Husband?

“Working with Raye is incredibly inspiring. She approaches style with intention; she’s very attuned to how a look should make her feel and the message it carries,” Rocco Iannone, creative director of Ferrari, tells Glamour. “I brought in Ferrari Style’s sculptural precision and sense of engineered elegance, and together we shaped a look that balances her softness and her power.”

Why Old Hollywood? “Old Hollywood has always fascinated me, that era when glamour was defined by presence, not excess. I was thinking about women like Rita Hayworth, Dorothy Dandridge and Lauren Bacall, who embodied confidence through posture, gaze, and movement. Their silhouettes were pure yet dramatic,” explains Rocco.

Certainly, classic glamour has been a huge trend this year. No red carpet in 2025 was complete without at least a few stars channelling timeless vintage style. Plus, wrapping a scarf around your head Brigitte Bardot-style has risen in popularity this year. If that doesn’t prove that the girlies want to look like an Old Hollywood siren, I don’t know what does.

“We’re living in a moment where people crave emotion, permanence, and a sense of connection,” says Rocco. “Old Hollywood offers a type of glamour rooted in craft, poise, and character, qualities that transcend trends. In a world moving very fast, there’s something modern about revisiting an aesthetic that celebrates restraint and poise.”
