Behold, the rise of the polka dot jackets. Polka dots have been inescapable for the past year or so, popping up on everything from midi skirts and tights to romantic dresses. But it seems that, recently, the trend is really exploding when it comes to Spring jackets.
In recent fashion seasons, we’ve seen the style set step out in polka dotted outerwear. Usually in a funnel-neck bomber jacket situation, since that style has been extremely hot in every shade and pattern. But there’s also plenty of dotted blazers and suit jackets, as well as the odd cardigan.
The beauty of this pattern is that it adds some excitement to your outfit, but is also extremely versatile due to its simple and geometric nature. Plus, the colour palette of these jackets tends to be quite neutral: black, white, plus the occasional brown, burgundy and blue.
It’s a way to make a statement without making too much of a statement. Plus, at least for me, polka dots have a decidedly summery feel, making me think of ’50s halterneck dresses and swimming costumes, or Old Hollywood icons on the French Riviera.
So, as the spring/summer 2026 season approaches, here’s how to wear the trend.
