Forget the latest designer bag, this autumn/winter is all about jewellery. And there’s one such item that’s caused something of a fashion epidemic: a pair of expensive-looking teardrop earrings.
If you’ve been living under a rock and haven’t heard about them by now, allow me to fill you in. Gracing the ears of just about every celebrity, stylist and influencer who sat FROW (that’s front row) this Fashion Week, the Bottega Veneta’s sculptural tear-shaped studs have officially been stamped as this season’s must-have accessory.
The catch? They’re currently out of stock. Told you the hype was real. The good news? A plethora of high street stores have been dropping similarly-luxe versions, including Amazon. Hold up: we’ve found a near-identical pair that are on sale for Amazon Prime Day.
So where do the comparisons lie? Well, aside from looking exactly the same, Amazon’s iteration are made from 18k gold-plated sterling silver while the actual Bottega Veneta Drop Earrings are only 18k gold-finished sterling silver. The original pair will set you back £520, if you can get hold of them, but Amazon’s are currently £8.49 – saving you just over £511 to treat yourself elsewhere. Prime Day beauty deals, anyone?
