Astrological predictions can help us with key decisions, from dating choices to our career paths. Now, Netflix has launched a feature that tells us what to watch – according to our star sign.
Aligning with the beginning of Virgo season on 23 August, the streamer has launched Your Zodiac Watchlist, which will recommend what to watch next according to key characteristic of your zodiac sign. For example, Virgos are described as “always hustling”, with The Queens Gambit (starring Anya Taylor-Joy), Beef, Now You See Me and Money Heist recommended.
For Libras (which is incidentally the star sign of this writer), Netflix listed titles such as Hit Man, Peaky Blinders and Ozark, with the astrological bio for the sign as “Libras play fair in love and war”.
For Scorpios, mystery watches should be prioritised, such as Wednesday and The Residence, and for Aries, it’s “chaos and competition”. Think Love Is Blind and Squid Game.
“At Netflix, our team of curators on the member experience team create these themed collections to help members discover something fresh, fun and timely,” the streamer said in a statement announcing the new feature. It also explained that the content recommendations won’t be tailored to each user’s star sign – each user will be able to see the recommendations for all twelve signs.
It’s barely surprising that the streamer has leant into astrology to help with our decision paralysis when it comes to what to watch. As more and more content becomes available to watch online, it sometimes near impossible to make a decision. In fact, 83 percent of millennials surveyed in a 2024 study said they are either “somewhat” or a “total” believer in astrology, so we’d be willing to bet many Netflix watchers would love to base their next watchlist fave on what is written in the stars for them.
GLAMOUR has previously dived deep into what zodiac compatibility means to us. A 2021 study found that 70% of women viewed zodiac compatibility – information like a potential partner’s birth chart and star sign – as important to them.
“People picking partners or dates based on [these] signs has become more popular because there is less trust in the algorithms of dating apps, as well as less of a key sense of what ‘works’ when it comes to picking a partner,” Nichi Hodgson, dating expert and author of The Curious History of Dating: From Jane Austen to Tinder , says.
