Jennifer Lawrence put her minimalist spin on the boho pendant necklace

Years into the era of dainty little necklaces, and Jennifer Lawrence pulls out a chunky statement pendant? Bold. Brave. Beautiful. Making us rethink our entire stance on fiddly ring stacks and tiny earrings that take forever to remove at night. What if we just did One Big Necklace and called it a day?

The Oscar winner stepped out into the New York City heat in a simple shift dress and black flip-flops, letting her blonde hair fall in loose beachy waves over her shoulders and accessorizing with the tall Sprout tote bag in black suede from Liffner and simple black Ray-Ban cat-eye sunglasses. But all eyes were on the dark obsidian pendant necklace sitting squarely atop her sternum. It lends the outfit a simple cohesion and sophistication without becoming too busy or adding any layers or moving pieces she’d have to deal with.

It’s the same necklace she wore to a Yankees game back in October 2024 — maybe some kind of good luck charm or a treasured gift—but worn a bit higher on her chest, likely thanks to an adjustable toggle on the cord.

Lawrence was reportedly headed to the opening night of Ta-da!, comedian Josh Sharp’s one-man comedy show now playing off-Broadway at the Greenwich House Theatre, with some girlfriends.

Of all of Jennifer Lawrence’s wonderful qualities — and they are myriad — her commitment to comfortable footwear has got to be her most relatable. She wore flip-flops on the Cannes red carpet, not for political reasons, but just because they are comfy. Lately, she and Kendall Jenner have been twinning in red-and-black thong sandals. Flat trainer? Yeah, J.Law knows ’er. So of course she’s stepping out for a night at the theatre in the unfussy, heat-friendly sandal we all have waiting by the door. Show off that red pedicure, Lawrence, you paid for it!
