Jennifer Aniston knows how to work a red carpet – and make a hair-adjacent statement while doing so. This year alone, she has used the occasion to debut a short collarbone-grazing bob, a fluffy lob, a side-parted bob and a modern take on her iconic The Rachel cut. It’s kinda hard to keep up.
But for the Primetime Emmy Awards 2024, which took place on September 15, she chose to tap into a whole new character energy: French girl hair.
Jen was nominated for best lead actress in a drama series for The Morning Show. While she stayed in her usual lane with a classic smokey eye, adding monochrome blush and glossy lips in a peachy pink shade, her hairstyle was subtly different to her signature California, beachy waves.

The star’s hair is still a sandy blonde hue – and rather than go for another headline-stealing chop, she chose to wear it a longer, chest-skimming length than we’ve seen of late. But a standout feature was its distinct softness, which is at odds with the big, bouncy blowouts and artfully crafted ‘90s supermodel hair we saw at the Toronto International Film Festival last week (Kaia Gerber, we’re looking at you).
Fashion-wise, Boho has made a cool comeback for AW24 with everyone from Sienna Miller to Daisy Edgar-Jones embracing wafty chiffon styles. But it seems that Jennifer Aniston is applying the aesthetic to her hair.
The grown-out layers still have a hint of texture – but it stops short of being bedhead. It’s all about natural movement and allowing her strands to tumble effortlessly over her shoulders just so, rather than furiously back-combing volume into the hair. And can we talk about how easily she grew out that bob?!
Her look screams, “I just threw on an evening gown” rather than, “I’ve spent hours in hair and makeup.”
And this is perhaps what cements its cool, French girl status. Jen chose to accessorise her boho hair with a white, strapless gown from Oscar de la Renta. Figure-hugging, and encrusted with pearl and crystal beads arranged as interlocking shells, the dress is nothing short of high-octane glamour.
The Emmys may have been held in Los Angeles, but we’re loving this new ‘Jennifer In Paris’ vibe.
