As snuggle season is officially underway, we need to flag ITV drama Playing Nice as a must watch. And it’s just dropped a super compelling trailer.
Starring Happy Valley‘s James Norton and a slew of amazing talent, the four-part series follows two couples who discover the tragic news that their babies were switched at birth. Mystery and drama follows, obviously.
Based on the psychological thriller by author J. P. Delaney, the TV series is set in the Cornish countryside and coast, with filming having been carried out in the beautiful location earlier this year.
As well as playing a lead, James Norton is also an executive producer on this project, and has already spoken out on what his involvement has meant to him. “Playing Nice was the first book we optioned after launching Rabbit Track and we feel immensely proud of the project it has become,” he has said in a statement.
Here’s everything we know so far about ITV’s Playing Nice.

Playing Nice plot
The TV series tells the story of two couples who realise that their toddlers were switched at birth in a hospital mix-up. Now, they face the ultimate dilemma: do they keep the sons they’ve raised and loved, or make the switch back? A heartbreaking, dramatic and very compelling story for us as an audience.
James Norton will play Pete, and Niamh Algar will play Maddie, a couple who are thrown into the world of Miles (James McArdle) and Lucy (Jessica Brown Findlay), who they quickly question if they can trust. After initially agreeing what to do about their children, Pete and Maddie come to suspect that Miles and Lucy and an ulterior motive, and must go to huge lengths to protect their family.
It really cleverly navigates the way that wealth and power aids manipulation, as Miles and Lucy seem to twist the truth to gain custody of both boys. But what really happened that fateful day that the boys were switched?
