Amber Sawyer was our retreat leader and also a Childbirth Educator, Prenatal Yoga Teacher, Birth Doula. She created a space that we all felt held by and connected us as women, beyond our pregnancies. It really takes someone special to lead a group of pregnant women from all different backgrounds through visualisations, movement and knowledge classes with such ease and humour. Amber is an instrumental part of the Momz team but more importantly the birthing community, a beautiful reminder that our bodies hold all the power for birth.
Maria, the marketing manager and creative heart of the retreat, has an uncanny talent for personalising each mum’s experience, because let’s face it, no two soon-to-be-mamas are the same. Whether it’s karaoke or arts and crafts, she seemed to know exactly what each mama needed to feel nourished, seen, and celebrated in this precious pre-baby moment. One of my favourite parts of the day was brunch, which was truly out of this world. Eating in pregnancy can become stressful and it was bliss to have thoughtfully prepared, nourishing plates that you could tuck into without a second thought. Each dish was crafted with a holistic approach to pregnancy in mind, balancing flavour and nutrients to leave you feeling satisfied. The chefs, a mother and daughter duo, brought a personal touch to every meal with creations like homemade cashew butter and crunchy granola that I loved so much I went on to recreate them throughout my pregnancy. I loved the long tables overflowing with vibrant salads, warm breads, fresh fruit and comforting dishes that became the backdrop for those honest mama-to-mama conversations that flow so easily over good food.
I went to the Mom’z retreat with an open mind and heart, but I wasn’t expecting such a deeply nourishing experience with a community of mamas from so many different backgrounds. We laughed, cried, shared stories, and built bonds that felt as transformative as the retreat itself. It reminded me that motherhood doesn’t have to be a solitary journey, and that sometimes, the most powerful thing you can do before welcoming a new life is to pause, connect, and let yourself be cared for too.
Mom’z offers private and shared rooms with prices starting from €2,700.
