I did not expect to find my new favourite flats from this flip flop brand

When I think of autumn, the first thing that comes to mind is high boots and shoes to accompany rainy days. I certainly don’t think of cute little flats. That’s why I would never have imagined that this season I would end up surrendering to ballerina flats designed specifically for cooler days. And much less that those ballerinas would bear the stamp of FitFlop, the brand that I have always associated with summer vacations and ultra-comfortable sandals.

But the brand’s new autumn/winter collection presents the most sophisticated ballerina flats of the season, which could be confused with a French fashion house or a minimalist luxury brand. Ballerinas were already the undisputed queens of footwear this spring, and it looks like they’re not going anywhere for autumn.

The British brand, which combines biomechanics and design like no one else, has reinvented its winter classics. This season comes loaded with metallic finishes, jewelled details and, as always, a dose of comfort that makes all the difference.

The Delicato Mary Jane is, without a doubt, the jewel of the collection: a feminine, elegant design, with a brooch-like closure and that festive silver that is perfect for evening. Although, to be honest, they work with absolutely everything: from jeans with a basic white tee to a knit ensemble. Because if there’s one infallible style trick this autumn (and any season for that matter), it’s to go for metallic footwear.

Beyond the design, what continues to make the difference is what you can’t see: the technology of their soles. Because being comfortable in the middle of autumn – with a full schedule – is appreciated.
