Perhaps we’ve been living under a rock, but we certainly haven’t been paying enough attention to Lily James, or more specifically, her hair texture. For a concert held in London, the Pam & Tommy star showed out with a head full of brunette curls, making us wonder if this is her natural hair texture.
Lily wore a printed dress and leather jacket with her brunette curls for the press night of “Stephen Sondheim’s Old Friends” held on 3 October in London. Her hair was parted slightly off centre and left cascading around her in loose waves. The tips of her brunette waves fell a bit past her collarbone.
As for makeup, she kept it as simple as her hairstyling. You can see a sliver of winged liner on her lids. The pink in her cheeks could have been her natural flush or a result of blending a blush on the apples of her cheeks. She had a pink sheen on her lips that could be either lipstick the same colour as her lips or a swipe of gloss.

Now, the ultimate question is whether or not this is Lily James’s natural hair texture. Given how casually her hair was styled, I’m willing to bet she just washed her hair before heading out for the event. If you scroll through her Instagram, you’ll see the sleek styles she wears for red-carpet events — the slicked-back updo and baby bangs she brought to the 2023 Met Gala is a perfect example — alongside more casual hair looks where you can see a loose texture similar to this one.
At the end of August, she shared a photo dump with pictures of herself in a bikini with her damp curls around her, so I think it’s safe to say this is likely Lily’s natural hair texture. We’ll still be on the lookout to see if we are right or simply being bamboozled by some good hair products or extensions.
