Summer is so close we can almost taste it — and Hailey Bieber is providing the perfect sartorial inspiration.
Yes, it’s that time of year. The thermostat is inching up and up; the days are getting longer and longer; the Aperol Spritzes are getting more and more appetising. But we’re still not quite there yet. First, we’ve got to get through the most important day in the fashion calendar. And, no, I don’t mean the first Monday in May. I mean April 25th. You know, the perfect date, “because it’s not too hot and not too cold — all you need is a light jacket.” Miss Congeniality may have taught us the power of a light jacket in spring, but Hailey Bieber is reminding us of just how important it really is to have a chic, versatile option ready in your closet for when that perfect day comes around.
Bieber’s light jacket was an off-white trench from Mango. The £119 number has the perfect amount of slouch and can be worn with an open or closed collar. Bieber paired the coat with a simple white top and a pair of black capri trousers (yes, the Y2K trend is, apparently, back in full force), and a pair of strappy sandals.

The beauty of a classic trench, however, is that it really does go with just about anything. Take a page from Daisy Edgar-Jones’s book and pair it with a floaty boho maxi dress. Or, take inspiration from Anne Hathaway, who recently paired her long trench with a white top and sparkly beige trousers while attending a Ralph Lauren show. Or, you can experiment with the trench itself. A bold leather trench is a great way to add some edge to your go-to spring look, while a short trench is ideal for warmer days as summer gets closer and closer.
