The glazed donut manicure was the nail look of summer 2022, thanks in part to Hailey Bieber, who couldn’t get enough of the frosted chrome finish. The look took flight immediately and spawned sibling manis, including the equally delicious strawberry glazed nails, but Bieber seems to be moving on from the manicure — possibly for good.
Bieber is known for changing up her manicure on a moment’s notice, and lately the model and Rhode founder has been feeling simpler nail looks. Case in point, her most recent summer photo dump, which featured not one but two different manis with absolutely zero chrome powder in sight. The first one is a neutral, goes-with-everything sheer ballet pink in her favoured long almond shape, similar to the viral milk bath nails but a touch more pink.
In another photo, Bieber is rocking one of 2023’s biggest mani trends: the icon herself, the French manicure, complete with bright white tips and a pink base. (Zendaya and Ariana Grande have also been enjoying the French manicure resurgence.)

Before you go canceling your nail appointment or dumping out your favourite glazed polishes in favour of Essie Mademoiselle, remember that Bieber is a manicure chameleon and is always down to try a new nail look, even if it’s potentially polarising. (Hello, tortoiseshell nails.) We’ve seen her in a mismatched mani and a red and pink French as of late, but she still loves a glazed finish, especially on her eyes.
The next logical step after glazed donut nails is the pearly girly look, which Bieber wore in May and was also cosigned by her pal Kylie Jenner. But then again, Bieber could take things in a completely different direction for the rest of summer 2023 and surprise us all with an out-of-the-blue trend revival. Could she be the one to revive crackle polish? (Please no.)
