Florence Pugh just made ’60s mod makeup the trend of the season

Florence Pugh’s makeup is levelling up with her radical hair transformations, which have seen her go from bob to pink buzzcut and bleached mini mohawk recently. After weeks of classic smoked-out eyes or a seasonal berry lip, her latest makeup look is perhaps her most dramatic (and fun!) to date: full-on ’60s mod eye makeup.

On 1st October 2023, Florence attended the Maison Valentino after-party in Paris (she’s an ambassador for the brand), wearing a black mini dress with marabou feather cuffs and over-the-knee leather boots.

To keep the retro theme going, her long-time go-to makeup artist Alex Babsky paired a peachy lip with feathered brows and a sheer wash of silver grey over her entire lid. But it’s the bold, dark cut crease, haloed by fluttery falsies, that really steal the show. As well as sitting in the groove of the upper lid, the black kohl liner (presumably Valentino’s Twin Liner in Black & Nero) hugs both her upper and lower lash lines.

In an Instagram post, Alex referenced Edie Sedgwick, the American actress, fashion model and Andy Warhol muse, as the inspiration for the Oppenheimer actor’s look.

To inject some modern cool-girl energy to the look, her hairstylist Peter Lux then slicked her peroxide blonde hair back in a classic wet look with a little root lift for a coiffed style at the front.

It’s not the first time that Florence has relied on this glam squad to create a beauty look that makes you do a double take. Not so long ago, Alex and Peter transformed Florence into a dead ringer for Elvira Hancock from the movie Scarface with a champagne-blonde bob and sultry, soft-focus makeup.

Thanks Florence Pugh, your latest transformation was totally worth the wait.
