Elle Fanning saw them first: these are the 3 basic pants of the season.
While actors are immersed in the intense schedule of film festivals (where movies are released and fashion trends are set), we’re thinking about how to build our wardrobe for autumn/winter 2025/26. These events, beyond being platforms to present new projects, function as our sources of style inspiration.
Our latest muse is Elle Fanning, who was just at the Telluride Film Festival with her next project, Sentimental Value, by Danish director Joachim Trier. And it was on this stage where she showed us the most trendy trio of trousers for the upcoming season. Take notes, because they will set the pace from now on.
Brown trousers
It’s been a few seasons since we adopted dark, chocolate brown as the new black. It’s the perfect neutral: less harsh than black but still versatile enough to wear with anything. Elle’s brown trousers are proof of this (the corduroy style is from The Row), combined with a taupe cashmere sweater that’s also from the Olsen sisters’ brand. Add a shirt peeking out from underneath and a pair of comfortable loafers, and you have an infallible combo.

Black tailored trousers
This timeless basic is revamped in an even more minimalist way. Elle opts for a two-tone outfit, based on a pair of black tailored trousers, impeccable in their cut, matched with a long jacket with simple lines. A white T-shirt and white pumps are the perfect contrast. Effortless elegance that is totally achievable for us at home, too. These are the trousers we’ll be wearing both to evening events and for any day at the office.

Cuffed jeans
The latest trend in denim only needs a simple gesture: raise the end of your jeans into a turned-up hem. It can be sewn so that it is well-fastened, or you can buy a pair that already incorporates this detail, if you like. In this look, the actor combines the jeans with ankle boots (just like Anne Hathaway) with a worn, cowboy-esque aesthetic, a brown belt and white shirt. That’s all. Oh, and as an insider’s tip: dark, indigo jeans are particularly on trend.
