Dua Lipa has the Midas touch with her gold bijoux French manicure

Some celebrities and their nail artists are just always on the same wavelength. Take Dua Lipa and her go-to tech, Michelle Humphrey, for example. Lipa loves nail art that’s noticeable but doesn’t go overboard, like the simple black daisy design she wore earlier this summer. And Humphrey is an expert at exactly that, often taking French manicures and turning them up just a notch, like the polka-dot French she recently did for Kylie Jenner. So when Dua Lipa came looking for a glamourous-but-not-stuffy French mani, Humphrey delivered.

On Tuesday, July 29, Lipa posted a close-up of her hand to her Instagram Stories, writing, “v obsessed w my new set,” and tagging Humphrey. And quite frankly, we can’t blame her for loving it so much. It takes the traditional French manicure and gives it a three-dimensional gold upgrade – what Humphrey calls a “gold bijoux French.”

“I used different-sized golden micro flat-back beads,” Humphrey tells Allure. “These were individually placed using a jewellery gel and manicure stick and cured into place. The beads are larger in size towards the smile line and taper in various sizes towards the tip of the nail, building up that gilded look.”

To really let those gold details stand out, the rest of the nail was kept simple, with the sheer, pale Bio Sculpture EVO gel in Anthea.

As for how they landed on this look, Humphrey says it was a collab. “She showed me an idea, and I put my spin on it by curving the bead placement and turning it into a luxe French moment. It ended up feeling really unique and custom to her,” she tells Allure. “It makes me so happy that nail art is having a comeback.”

We couldn’t agree more!
