Courteney Cox has released a fragrance that smells just like Monica Geller

Courteney Cox has become synonymous with the best friend next door, whether in her own personal life, or in her career.

As Monica Geller in Friends, Cox’s character had an adorable (if slightly neurotic) inclination to always be the host for gatherings with her friends. She’d bake cookies and Thanksgiving dinners, clean the apartment to within an inch of its life with one big hoover, then a tiny hoover, and ensure her space was comfy and welcoming, with throw cushions, blankets, and meaningful knickknacks. She even had 11 different towel categories spanning “everyday” and “fancy.”

Likewise, on her own social channels, Courteney regularly shares wholesome afternoons spent cooking up a storm in her kitchen. She’s cultivated a whole lifestyle around casual, elegant, cosiness and she’s shared it with us, too. Her Homecourt lifestyle brand sells beautiful dish soaps, surface cleaners and home fragrances.

Now though, she’s expanded into body care and perfumes which she created with her daughter, Coco Arquette (and a Pinterest board). Announcing the latest development on her Instagram she wrote: “I’m so excited to introduce the Cocomoi Body Collection, our new line of luxurious body care essentials.” There’s a body butter, a body mist, a perfume oil, a body wash, a candle and gift sets combining the line-up.

If you were to ask Courteney what the scent smells like, she’d tell you “this is a warm, fresh, yet sophisticated scent with notes of coconut, cedarwood, and fig. It also has characteristics of my signature fragrance, Cece, symbolizing my connection to my daughter, Coco… The inspiration for Cocomoi.”

But if you asked her what it smells like on a deeper level, she’d tell you that it’s the sort of perfume Monica Geller would have adored.

In an interview with Refinery29, Courteney explained, “I would say Monica works really well with the notes from Cocomoi. She’s a feisty lady and this scent has pepper in it. She’s pretty grounded — almost like the ‘mom’ of the group — so cedarwood [is a good match]. She’s a very fresh and warm person, and we have some coconut and creamy fig in the scent. Lastly, cardamom just makes sense, since she loves to cook.”

So, if you’re ready to channel a mashup of Monica Geller nostalgia meets Courteney Cox coastal mum, this scent might be right up your street. Even better, it skips the big city price tag for a £37 handbag-friendly rollerball.
