‘Berry girl makeup’ is this spring-summer’s headlining fruity beauty trend

For the past few years, it seems like one fruity beauty reference has come to define the makeup trends each summer. This year? It’s the turn of Berry Girl Makeup.

It follows 2023’s Strawberry Girl Summer, which saw soft and flushed pinks applied over lips and cheeks alongside dinky strawberry details sketched across nails. Then, last year, Peach Girl Makeup came to claim its place. It warmed the dial up with bronzier pinks, apricots and corals to give a tanned, summer-ready take on tonal beauty.

But things have moved in a slightly different direction for 2025. Perhaps it’s the influence that the cherry trend has been having on makeup (which in itself is a major aesthetic this year), but juicy berry tones have carried over from autumn-winter to give us a slightly deeper, sexy approach to fruity beauty this summer.

What is Berry Girl Makeup?

Like the name suggests, Berry Girl Makeup centres around berry tones being applied over lips, cheeks and nails. It leans in a purple-y direction with jammy plum, blackberry and raspberry tones all headlining.

Unsurprisingly, Hailey Bieber is early to the trend, having spearheaded the previous strawberry and peach movements. The beauty mogul recently dropped two new Pocket Blush shades in Date Cake (a warm red berry) and Plum (a cool purple berry), alongside a new Peptide Lip Tint in PBJ (a warm berry brown). Likewise, French It-Girl, Violette, introduced a new berry shade, Maryam, to her cult Bisou Blush line-up.

It’s interesting timing, since berry has always been so associated with the cooler months, but with new formulas offering up the shade in sheer, glossy and juicy textures (like Milk Makeup’s Cooling Water Jelly Tint Stick in Splash) it’s been reinvented as a delicious way to glaze lips and cheeks for spring-summer.
