The easiest way to transition into the coming season? By starting from the bottom up via a pair of the best autumn boots on your feet.
Naturally, the knitwear and jackets departments of our favourite online clothing stores are where we tend to browse first when seeking some new capsule wardrobe pieces. But let’s be real; you’re probably not going to be slipping into those until late October/November (when things really cool down), so if you’re keen to make some autumnal additions to your outfits before then, a pair of boots seems like the safest purchase for now.
For autumn/winter 2025, we’ve noticed a significant shift away from the stompy lug-soled boots everyone has clung to over years past. Slouchy boots – or, as some have dubbed, swashbuckling pirate boots – were spotted at Louis Vuitton and Isabel Marant; sock boots were seen at Toteme, Givenchy and Miu Miu; and brown boots seem to have kicked everyone’s beloved black boots to the curb.
The best winter boots are the ones which provide the most warmth alongside style, which is why we see the return of knee-high boots every year without fail. Autumn lends a little more flexibility, though, and afford us the chance to play around with outfit formulas like mini skirts and cowboy boots, or jorts and wellies, more often.
Pointed toe boots are also everywhere for AW25, and look super chic when worn poking out the bottom of some wide-leg trousers or barrel leg jeans. Bonus points if they come with a kitten heel, too.
