Hey, Ariana Grande has a new tattoo! The performer revealed in an interview with Allure that she recently went under the needle and got a new tattoo on the back of her right hand.
“It’s Glinda from the original L. Frank Baum book,” she told the magazine, saying that she “waited forever to fill up this hand. And I thought, ‘I’m gonna wait for the right thing to come along,’ and yeah, that felt very right.”
Of course, because Ariana is Ariana, there’s talk that it’s not just a tribute to what she called “one of the most deeply special and transformative and fulfilling experiences of my creative life in London [from] the past year and a half.” The very freshly divorced Grande, who has been known to get matching tattoos with paramours like Pete Davidson in the past, must be alluding to her current, much-discussed love life with her latest body art, no?
Follow the logic here.
You know what they (“they”) call tattoos? Ink. You know what squirts ink? Squids! And squids, as we are all aware, are known to live in undersea habitats. Are these squids perhaps passing a pineapple under the sea on their daily squid commutes to their squid day jobs? Perhaps!
By this logic, a tattoo of the source material for her character from Wicked on her hand is clearly a declaration of love for her rumoured boyfriend, Ethan Slater, Broadway’s own Spongebob of House Squarepants, not to mention Wicked co-star, and not a tribute to the experience of her first lead role in a movie, which happens to be an absolutely massive and wildly anticipated two-part adaptation of one of most popular Broadway musicals of the modern age. Definitely the first one.
