Anne Hathaway’s Coach messenger bag is the hardest-working cast member of The Devil Wears Prada 2

The real MVP of The Devil Wears Prada 2? Anne Hathaway’s Coach messenger bag, which we have now seen her wear in several photos taken from the New York City set of the upcoming sequel. If this is all sneaky advertising for the legacy handbag brand — a way to prove how all-purpose and yet consistently chic this classic accessory is— we can’t even be mad.

The latest pics of Hathaway and her new favourite messenger bag are by far the most dramatic. The photos, from July 28, show the actor, as Andy Sachs presumably, frantically running through midtown Manhattan while clutching the black leather bag as if it contains the nuclear codes. The bag itself appears to be a vintage Metropolitan briefcase, which was first introduced in 1999.

This time, Anne Hathaway’s Coach bag has been paired with a very corporate-core ensemble. On top, Hathaway wears a navy blue V-neck sweater under a pinstripe navy blazer. The sweater is tucked into pleated black trousers and paired with black leather boots that are surely not the most convenient for running. Luckily, Andy Sachs is well-trained in the art of sprinting through New York City while wearing high fashion.

We have also seen the bag paired with at least two additional Andy Sachs looks from the sequel film. We almost missed the iconic bag when she paired it with her all-white ensemble because we were so distracted by her Prada ‘mohawk’ shoes.

Grown-up Andy Sachs is playing around with menswear — and specifically pinstripes — a lot, it seems, because we also saw her wearing the Coach bag with a feminised version of a pinstripe suit. For this look Hathaway ditched the blazer but kept the vest to complete the summery suit.

We already knew that Coach was having a moment, thanks in large part to the efforts of Bella Hadid. The younger Hadid sister has been seen carrying a couple of favourite Coach bags on multiple occasions since at least 2024. And clearly Anne Hathaway, or at least Andy Sachs, has been paying attention.
