Brown linen trousers will be everywhere this summer – here’s how to style them

Linen is a warm weather staple every year, but brown linen trousers have emerged in particular as this year’s trend. Unsure on how to style yours? We’ve got you.

After a series of false starts, spring is finally here! And with the warmer weather, you’ll need a wardrobe update. Your chunky knits can be relegated to the back of your closet again, replaced by lighter cardigans and romantic blouses. Thick tights and heavy layers can be stowed away for another six months, replaced by swishy midi skirts and airy garments.

Each season is associated with certain fabrics. Autumn/winter naturally makes you think of wool, tweed and (faux) fur. Spring/summer, on the other hand, calls for fabrics like light cottons, silks and – perhaps most of all – linens. Linen is made from the fibres of flax plants, and is suitable for the hot months because of its properties: it is highly breathable, moisture-wicking (meaning it dries quickly) and has low heat retention.

Although linen is always a summer staple, recently we’ve seen an uptick in brown linen trousers in particular. The neutral shade is what you’d expect from linen, but the chocolate brown is slightly more interesting than the beige hue it regularly comes in. Comfy, practical, yet stylish all at the same time, a pair of brown linen trousers is the perfect base for any spring/summer outfit. We’ll show you how to style them.
