Season two wrapped with Amerie discovering that Rowan was Bird Psycho. Despite his relationship with Amerie, he’d been holding onto childhood bitterness, which led to him smashing his room. The chaos caused his brother Jett to run from the house in fear — before tragically dying in a car accident.
While Rowan initially blames Amerie to some extent, he ultimately realises Jett’s death wasn’t her fault and apologises.
Alongside the Rowan storyline, season two also saw Quinni become school president, Ca$h and Darren decide to stay together, and Spider and Missy going public with their relationship.
And, of course, we can’t forget the major cliffhanger: the school is set on fire, and Malakai leaves for Switzerland, leaving plenty of questions for season three.

What will happen in Heartbreak High season 3?
According to Netflix, “In Season 3, it’s time for Hartley High’s graduating class to say ‘goodbye’ to school, and ‘hello’ to adulthood! Yet when a revenge prank goes horribly wrong, Amerie and her friends must cover up their secret or risk losing everything.”
Colour us curious! Interesting that there’s no mention of the fire.
Will Malakai be in Heartbreak High season 3?
Last we saw Malakai, he had written Amerie a letter to express his feelings — and then moved away with his mum. That letter, of course, was tragically lost in the school fire. RIP. So Amerie still has no idea how he really feels!
You might think Malakai’s move means he’s written out of season three, especially since he wasn’t included in the cast photo released in November 2024. But his appearance in the wrap video confirmed he’ll be back — just how much remains a mystery.
“[Malakai and Amerie] are such a beautiful couple,” executive producer Carly Heaton told TV Insider after season two’s finale. “They have so many opportunities but mess it up. Malakai has his own journey to explore around his sexual identity… I think [Amerie] knows where she needs to go, but whether she’s actually capable of getting there will be a big question for season three.”
